Kabar Gemerlap - Social media platform Threads has erupted in controversy as Humanity Care, a frequent donor in protests and disasters, faces demands for financial transparency following allegations of fund mismanagement by donation recipients.

The transparency demands were raised by Dr. Ferry Kusumalingga, a regular donor through Humanity Care, who issued an open letter and stern warning to the account, which claims to represent the Indonesian people, to demonstrate good faith in the financial transparency process.

Ferry created the open letter because the Humanity Care account had stopped responding to messages since yesterday. As a donor, Ferry believes it is reasonable to demand transparency and accountability for the funds collected from various actions.

“OPEN LETTER TO @_humanitycare_. I am writing this open letter because the DMs I sent have not received a response. As a donor, I think it is reasonable for us to request transparency and accountability for the funds entrusted to @_humanitycare_, especially the funds collected to help disaster victims,” wrote Ferry, quoted Tuesday (27/10/2026).

This doctor, who actively shares health education through social media, urges openness regarding the funds distributed for various protest actions and community donations for natural disaster victims. For Ferry, every rupiah collected contains trust, care, and the hope of people who want to help those in need.

“Public funds are not just numbers collected. Behind every rupiah, there is trust, care, and the hope of people who want to help those in need,” he emphasized.

In the thread, Ferry emphasized that his request for a financial report from Humanity Care is not an attack on the organization. This transparency, he said, is part of accountability when collecting public funds in the name of humanity.

Ferry also demands that Humanity Care complete the financial transparency process within 2x24 hours since the open letter was issued.

“Personally, I give Humanity Care 2 x 24 hours since this letter is published to provide an official response, detailed information on fund usage, and LPJ accessible to donors,” he said.

Additionally, he requests that the financial report include transaction notes, purchase receipts, and documentation of aid distribution. This is because in the reports already shared by Humanity Care, only numbers and descriptions are present without the evidence Ferry requested.

“The LPJ must be accompanied by transaction notes, purchase receipts, and documentation. It's not just a table below,” he stressed.

On the other hand, Dr. Ferry also shared evidence of his conversation with Humanity Care's admin when requesting financial transparency. From the conversation, Humanity Care stated they were compiling evidence, income, and expenses for various actions taken.

Unfortunately, Ferry believes Humanity Care's response does not fully address the doubts and demands of donors to resolve the issue.

“However, the response provided still does not answer the substance of my questions as a donor: where the funds are being channeled, how they are being used, and where the accountability report is?” he said.

Further, Dr. Ferry emphasizes that the transparency request is not aimed at bringing down or deflating the humanitarian actions of Humanity Care. He clearly demands transparency and accountability for the donations collected from the public.

“We only need transparency. This is not an accusation, this is a request. Not just a suggestion or a reminder to @_humanitycare_,” he concluded.

Humanity Care Apologizes and Promises Accountability

Meanwhile, Humanity Care issued a written statement regarding the issue circulating on social media. They apologized for the commotion and promised to improve transparency in donations.

“In response to the commotion on Threads, we apologize sincerely and are working to improve many things in the issue of donation transparency,” said Humanity Care.

Additionally, they finally engaged an external auditor to help resolve the issue. They promised to remain accountable for community donations.

“We are also hiring an external auditor to help us. We remain accountable and will not abandon our responsibility,” they added.

Humanity Care Faces Public Outcry Over Donation Transparency

Previously, public anger erupted after Humanity Care was accused of being non-transparent in the distribution of donations from the people to the people. The transparency demands were pushed by donors to ensure Humanity Care provides accurate transaction evidence.

Humanity Care had previously shared partial accountability reports. The report listed items purchased and vehicles rented by Humanity Care.

However, donors were not satisfied with the provided report. This is because the report only contained numbers that were suspected to be manipulated without the inclusion of payment evidence.
